ZIYARAT-E-ASHURA IN ARABIC



اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ‏
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خِيَرَةَ اللَّهِ وَ ابْنَ خِيَرَتِه السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ ابْنَ سَيِّدِ الْوَصِيِّينَ‏
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ فَاطِمَةَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ‏
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ثَارَ اللَّهِ وَ ابْنَ ثَارِهِ وَ الْوِتْرَ الْمَوْتُورَ
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلَى الْأَرْوَاحِ الَّتِي حَلَّتْ بِفِنَائِكَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنِّي جَمِيعاً سَلاَمُ اللَّهِ أَبَداً مَا بَقِيتُ وَ بَقِيَ اللَّيْلُ وَ النَّهَارُ
يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ عَظُمَتِ الرَّزِيَّةُ وَ جَلَّتْ وَ عَظُمَتِ الْمُصِيبَةُ بِكَ (بِكُمْ) عَلَيْنَا وَ عَلَى جَمِيعِ أَهْلِ الْإِسْلاَمِ‏
وَ جَلَّتْ وَ عَظُمَتْ مُصِيبَتُكَ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ عَلَى جَمِيعِ أَهْلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ‏
فَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ أُمَّةً أَسَّسَتْ أَسَاسَ الظُّلْمِ وَ الْجَوْرِ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ‏
وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ أُمَّةً دَفَعَتْكُمْ عَنْ مَقَامِكُمْ وَ أَزَالَتْكُمْ عَنْ مَرَاتِبِكُمُ الَّتِي رَتَّبَكُمُ اللَّهُ فِيهَا
وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ أُمَّةً قَتَلَتْكُمْ وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْمُمَهِّدِينَ لَهُمْ بِالتَّمْكِينِ مِنْ قِتَالِكُمْ‏
بَرِئْتُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْهُمْ وَ (مِنْ) أَشْيَاعِهِمْ وَ أَتْبَاعِهِمْ وَ أَوْلِيَائِهِمْ‏
يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِنِّي سِلْمٌ لِمَنْ سَالَمَكُمْ وَ حَرْبٌ لِمَنْ حَارَبَكُمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ
وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ آلَ زِيَادٍ وَ آلَ مَرْوَانَ وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ بَنِي أُمَيَّةَ قَاطِبَةً وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ ابْنَ مَرْجَانَةَ
وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ عُمَرَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ شِمْراً (شَمِراً)
وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ أُمَّةً أَسْرَجَتْ وَ أَلْجَمَتْ وَ تَنَقَّبَتْ لِقِتَالِكَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَ أُمِّي‏
لَقَدْ عَظُمَ مُصَابِي بِكَ فَأَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي أَكْرَمَ مَقَامَكَ وَ أَكْرَمَنِي (بِكَ)
أَنْ يَرْزُقَنِي طَلَبَ ثَارِكَ مَعَ إِمَامٍ مَنْصُورٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ‏
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي عِنْدَكَ وَجِيهاً بِالْحُسَيْنِ عليه السلام فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ
يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ إِلَى رَسُولِهِ وَ إِلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ‏
وَ إِلَى فَاطِمَةَ وَ إِلَى الْحَسَنِ وَ إِلَيْكَ بِمُوَالاَتِكَ‏
وَ بِالْبَرَاءَةِ (مِمَّنْ قَاتَلَكَ وَ نَصَبَ لَكَ الْحَرْبَ وَ بِالْبَرَاءَةِ مِمَّنْ أَسَّسَ أَسَاسَ الظُّلْمِ وَ الْجَوْرِ عَلَيْكُمْ‏
وَ أَبْرَأُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ إِلَى رَسُولِهِ) مِمَّنْ أَسَّسَ أَسَاسَ ذَلِكَ وَ بَنَى عَلَيْهِ بُنْيَانَهُ‏
وَ جَرَى فِي ظُلْمِهِ وَ جَوْرِهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَ عَلَى أَشْيَاعِكُمْ بَرِئْتُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْهُمْ‏
وَ أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ ثُمَّ إِلَيْكُمْ بِمُوَالاَتِكُمْ وَ مُوَالاَةِ وَلِيِّكُمْ‏
وَ بِالْبَرَاءَةِ مِنْ أَعْدَائِكُمْ وَ النَّاصِبِينَ لَكُمُ الْحَرْبَ وَ بِالْبَرَاءَةِ مِنْ أَشْيَاعِهِمْ وَ أَتْبَاعِهِمْ‏
إِنِّي سِلْمٌ لِمَنْ سَالَمَكُمْ وَ حَرْبٌ لِمَنْ حَارَبَكُمْ وَ وَلِيٌّ لِمَنْ وَالاَكُمْ وَ عَدُوٌّ لِمَنْ عَادَاكُمْ‏
فَأَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي أَكْرَمَنِي بِمَعْرِفَتِكُمْ وَ مَعْرِفَةِ أَوْلِيَائِكُمْ وَ رَزَقَنِي الْبَرَاءَةَ مِنْ أَعْدَائِكُمْ‏
أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مَعَكُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ وَ أَنْ يُثَبِّتَ لِي عِنْدَكُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ
وَ أَسْأَلُهُ أَنْ يُبَلِّغَنِي الْمَقَامَ الْمَحْمُودَ لَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ‏
وَ أَنْ يَرْزُقَنِي طَلَبَ ثَارِي (ثَارَكُمْ) مَعَ إِمَامٍ هُدًى (مَهْدِيٍّ) ظَاهِرٍ نَاطِقٍ بِالْحَقِّ مِنْكُمْ‏
وَ أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ بِحَقِّكُمْ وَ بِالشَّأْنِ الَّذِي لَكُمْ عِنْدَهُ أَنْ يُعْطِيَنِي بِمُصَابِي بِكُمْ أَفْضَلَ مَا يُعْطِي مُصَاباً بِمُصِيبَتِهِ‏
مُصِيبَةً مَا أَعْظَمَهَا وَ أَعْظَمَ رَزِيَّتَهَا فِي الْإِسْلاَمِ وَ فِي جَمِيعِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ (الْأَرَضِينَ)
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا مِمَّنْ تَنَالُهُ مِنْكَ صَلَوَاتٌ وَ رَحْمَةٌ وَ مَغْفِرَةٌ
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ مَحْيَايَ مَحْيَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ مَمَاتِي مَمَاتَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ تَبَرَّكَتْ بِهِ (فِيهِ) بَنُو أُمَيَّةَ وَ ابْنُ آكِلَةِ الْأَكْبَادِ
اللَّعِينُ ابْنُ اللَّعِينِ عَلَى (لِسَانِكَ) وَ لِسَانِ نَبِيِّكَ (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)
فِي كُلِّ مَوْطِنٍ وَ مَوْقِفٍ وَقَفَ فِيهِ نَبِيُّكَ (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)
اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ وَ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَ يَزِيدَ بْنَ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْكَ اللَّعْنَةُ أَبَدَ الْآبِدِينَ‏
وَ هَذَا يَوْمٌ فَرِحَتْ بِهِ آلُ زِيَادٍ وَ آلُ مَرْوَانَ بِقَتْلِهِمُ الْحُسَيْنَ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)
اللَّهُمَّ فَضَاعِفْ عَلَيْهِمُ اللَّعْنَ مِنْكَ وَ الْعَذَابَ (الْأَلِيمَ)
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْكَ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ وَ فِي مَوْقِفِي هَذَا وَ أَيَّامِ حَيَاتِي‏
بِالْبَرَاءَةِ مِنْهُمْ وَ اللَّعْنَةِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ بِالْمُوَالاَةِ لِنَبِيِّكَ وَ آلِ نَبِيِّكَ (عَلَيْهِ وَ) عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلاَمُ‏
 

Say 100 Times:

اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ أَوَّلَ ظَالِمٍ ظَلَمَ حَقَّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آخِرَ تَابِعٍ لَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ‏
اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنِ الْعِصَابَةَ الَّتِي (الَّذِينَ) جَاهَدَتِ الْحُسَيْنَ وَ شَايَعَتْ وَ بَايَعَتْ وَ تَابَعَتْ (تَايَعَتْ) عَلَى قَتْلِهِ اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْهُمْ جَمِيعاً

Say 100 Times:

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَ عَلَى الْأَرْوَاحِ الَّتِي حَلَّتْ بِفِنَائِكَ‏
عَلَيْكَ مِنِّي سَلاَمُ اللَّهِ أَبَداً مَا بَقِيتُ وَ بَقِيَ اللَّيْلُ وَ النَّهَارُ
وَ لاَ جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنِّي لِزِيَارَتِكُمْ (لِزِيَارَتِكَ)
السَّلاَمُ عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ وَ عَلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ (وَ عَلَى أَوْلاَدِ الْحُسَيْنِ ) وَ عَلَى أَصْحَابِ الْحُسَيْنِ‏
پس مى‏گويى‏
اللَّهُمَّ خُصَّ أَنْتَ أَوَّلَ ظَالِمٍ بِاللَّعْنِ مِنِّي وَ ابْدَأْ بِهِ أَوَّلاً ثُمَّ (الْعَنِ) الثَّانِيَ وَ الثَّالِثَ وَ الرَّابِعَ‏
اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ يَزِيدَ خَامِساً وَ الْعَنْ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ زِيَادٍ وَ ابْنَ مَرْجَانَةَ
وَ عُمَرَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ وَ شِمْراً وَ آلَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَ آلَ زِيَادٍ وَ آلَ مَرْوَانَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

Go in Sajdah & Recite:

اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدَ الشَّاكِرِينَ لَكَ عَلَى مُصَابِهِمْ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى عَظِيمِ رَزِيَّتِي‏
اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِي شَفَاعَةَ الْحُسَيْنِ يَوْمَ الْوُرُودِ
وَ ثَبِّتْ لِي قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَكَ مَعَ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ أَصْحَابِ الْحُسَيْنِ الَّذِينَ بَذَلُوا مُهَجَهُمْ دُونَ الْحُسَيْنِ عليه السلام

ZIYARAT-E-ASHURA IN ENGLISH

Peace be on you, O Aba Abdullah! peace be on you, O son of the Messenger of Allah!
peace be on you, O son of the commander of the faithfuls, the forebear of the successors!
 Peace be on you, O son of Faatimah, the choicest among the women of the worlds!
 Peace be on you, who was martyred while fighting heroically in the cause of Allah, the son of Allah's fearless warrior, you were isolated and had been attacked with a vengeance!
 Peace be on you and on those souls who had gathered in your camp, in your journey. I pray and invoke Allah to keep all of you tranquil and restful, for ever; so far I am alive, this is my prayer, and till nights and days follow each other.
 O Abaa Abdu I lah ! unbearable is the sorrow, nerve-racking is the agony, youput up with, for us and for all the (true) Muslims,
 crimes committed against you also shocked and unnerved the dwellers of the heavens, one and all.
 May Allah condemn and damn the people who laid the basis and set up the groundwork, to wander astray and turn aside from not only you and your family but to take liberties and bear hard upon you.
 May Allah condemn and damn the people who tried to obscure and deny your office and status, wilfully neglected your rank and class Allah had made known in clear terms.
 May Allah condemn and damn the people who killed you. May Allah condemn and damn the abettors who instigated and had a part in your murder.
 I turn to you and Allah, away from them, their henchmen, their followers and their friends,
 O Abaa Abdullah, I make peace with those who make their peace with you, I make war on those who go to war against you, till the Day of Judgement.
 May Allah condemn and damn the family of Ziyaad and the family of Marwaan; may Allah condemn and damn the group and the tribe of Umiyyah, one and all, altogether;may Allah condemn and damn ibna Marjaanah;
 may Allah condemn and damn Umar bin Saad; may Allah condemn and damn Shimr;
 may Allah condemn and damn the people who celebrate, enjoy, sing and dance on the day of your martyrdom. My father and mother are at your disposal.
 Profound is my sorrow for you. I beg Allah, who honoured you above others, to be generous towards me on account of you,
 and give me the opportunity to be with the victorious Imam, the descendant of Muhammad (blessings and peace be on him and on his children from Allah) at the time of the final and decisive war against Allah's enemies.
 O my Allah make me attend to Thy cause, sincerely, in every respect following in Husayn's footsteps, in this world and the hereafter.
 O Abaa Abdullah, I come nearer and seek greater intimacy with Allah, with His Messenger, with Ameerul Moomineen,
 with Faatimah, with Has-an and with you, with the help of your love
 and patronage, cutting off every connection with those who took up arms against you and killed you. I disconnect all links with those who, in the beginning, took the first steps to take liberties with and bear hard upon you,
 I take refuge with Allah and His Messenger free from the guilt of associating with those who laid the foundation for (your suffering), devised and carried out their corrupt plan of action,
 boldly gave currency to reign of terror and cruelty to oppress you and your friends and followers; detach myself from them and present myself to Allah and to you,
 I (first) seek greater intimacy with Allah and then with you to win your love and patronage, and to make friends with your friends,
 cut off all links with your enemies, and with those who planted the seeds of hostility against you, and reject and discard their associates, their followers and their friends.
 I make peace with those who made their peace with you, I search out and confront those who waged war against you, I make friends with those who stood by you, I strive against those who came in conflict with you,
 therefore, I make a request to Allah to acquaint (me) with the awareness that perceives you and your friends, to set me free from the corrupting influence of your enemies,
 to make me keep company with you it, this world and in the Hereafter, stand firm beside you and follow your footsteps closely in this world and in the next world.
 I beseech Him that He helps me to reach your highly praised station, given to you by Allah, (to meet you),
 that He provides me the opportunity to fight for justice and fairplay alongwith and under the leadership of the rightly guided guide (in your progeny) who surely will come and speak the truth.
 I beseech Allah in the name of your right and the purpose He assigned to you, that He overwhelms me with grief in memory of your sorrows, more than the personal grief that torments any one who is in great agony,
 sorrows which have no parallel and overshadow all calamities that took place in the history of Islam, for that matter, through out the whole universe.
 O my Allah, in my on the spot situation, treat me like him (or her) who obtains from Thee (Thy) blessings, mercy and forgiveness.
 O my Allah, bring me to life again, after death, in the place Muhammad and his "Aal" (children) are dwelling, and make me depart from this world like Muhammad and his "Aal" (children) had left,
 O my Allah this day is a day of rejoicing for the "Bani Umayyah",
 the herd of hardened criminals, the eternally damned and accursed group, a fact that had been made public by Thee and by Thy Prophet (blessings of Allah be on him and on his children),
 who, in every place and at all occasions, drew attention of people to this truism.
 O my Allah condemn and damn Abu Sufyaan, Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan, Yazid bin Muawiyah and let it be an everlasting curse upon thee from Thee.
 Today the descendants of Ziyaad and Marwan make merry, laugh and dance because on this day they killed Husayn (blessings of Allah be on him).
 O my Allah, therefore, double up the curse Thou brings upon them and also the punishment Thou decrees for them.
 O my Allah, I seek nearness to Thee today in this frame of mind, cutting off all links with them for the _rest of my life,
 denouncing them because of my love for Thy Prophet and his children, peace be on him and them.
 O my Allah condemn and damn the first tyrant who unjustly and wrongfully usurped that which rightly belonged to Muhammad and the children of Muhammad, and bring curse upon those who, after him, followed in his footsteps.
 O my Allah condemn and damn those conspirators who vexed and harassed Husayn, showed eagerness, agreed mutually, and joined hands to kill him. O my Allah bring curse upon all of them.
 Peace be on you, O Abaa Abdullah, and on those souls who came to your camp to put themselves at your disposal.
 So far I am alive and the days and nights follow each other I invoke Allah to send blessings on you for ever and ever.
 May Allah not make my this pledge of close association, physical as well as spiritual, with you the last fulfilment.
 Peace be on Husayn, and on Ali son of Husayn, and on the children of Husayn, and on the friends of Husayn.
 O my Allah, let the curse I call down on the head of the first tyrant stick like a leech; and stay put for ever on the first, then the second, the third and the fourth.
 O my Allah damn and call down evil on the fifth, Yazid son of Mua'awyah, and bring a curse upon Ubaydullah bin Ziyaad, ibna Marjanah,
 Umar bin Saad, and Shimr, and on the descendants of Abu Sufyaan, on the descendants of Ziyaad, on the descendants of Marwaan, till the Day of Judgement.
 O my Allah! (All) praise is for Thee (alone); praise of the "Ever-thankful to Thee", who glorify Thee whatever come to pass. (All) praise is for Allah for my deep felt intense grief.
 O my Allah make available for me the recommendations of Husayn on the day I present myself before Thee,
 let me stand firm in safety before Thee on account of my sincere attachment with Husayn, along with him and his comrades, who sacrificed everything they had (heart, mind, soul and life) for Husayn, peace be on him


Dua Alqama recited after Ziarat Ashura

يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ
ya allahu ya allahu ya allahu
O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
يَا مُجِيبَ دَعْوَةِ ٱلْمُضْطَرِّينَ
ya mujiba da`wati almudtarrina
O He Who responds to the prayer of the distressed!
يَا كَاشِفَ كُرَبِ ٱلْمَكْرُوبِينَ
ya kashifa kurabi almakrubina
O He Who relieves the agonies of the agonized!
يَا غِيَاثَ ٱلْمُسْتَغِيثِينَ
ya ghiyatha almustaghithina
O Aide of the callers for aid!
يَا صَرِيخَ ٱلْمُسْتَصْرِخِينَ
ya sarikha almustasrikhina
O Helper of those who cry for help!
وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيَّ مِنْ حَبْلِ ٱلْوَرِيدِ
wa ya man huwa aqrabu ilayya min habli alwaridi
O He Who is nearer to me than my life-vein!
وَيَا مَنْ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ ٱلْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ
wa ya man yahulu bayna almar'i wa qalbihi
O He Who intervenes between man and his heart!
وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ بِٱلْمَنْظَرِ ٱلأَعْلَىٰ وَبِٱلأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
wa ya man huwa bilmanzari al-a`la wa bil'ufuqi almubini
O He Who is in the Highest Position and in the Clear Horizon!
وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ عَلَىٰ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱسْتَوَىٰ
wa ya man huwa alrrahmanu alrrahimu `ala al`arshi istawa
O He Who is all-beneficent and all-merciful and is established on the Throne!
وَيَا مَنْ يَعْلَمُ خَائِنَةَ ٱلأَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِي ٱلصُّدُورُ
wa ya man ya`lamu kha'inata al-a`yuni wa ma tukhfi alssuduru
O He Who knows the stealthy looks and that which the breasts conceal!
وَيَا مَنْ لاَ يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْهِ خَافِيَةٌ
wa ya man la yakhfa `alayhi khafiyatun
O He from Whom no secret can remain hidden!
يَا مَنْ لاَ تَشْتَبِهُ عَلَيْهِ ٱلأَصْوَاتُ
ya man la tashtabihu `alayhi al-aswatu
O He Whom is not confused by the many voices (that pray Him)!
وَيَا مَنْ لاَ تُغَلِّطُهُ ٱلْحَاجَاتُ
wa ya man la tughallituhu alhajatu
O He Whom is not confounded by the many requests (that are raised to Him)!
وَيَا مَنْ لاَ يُبْرِمُهُ إِلْحَاحُ ٱلْمُلِحِّينَ
wa ya man la yubrimuhu ilhahu almulihhina
O He Who is not annoyed by the insistence of those who entreat Him persistently!
يَا مُدْرِكَ كُلِّ فَوْتٍ
ya mudrika kulli fawtin
O He Who overtakes every attempt of escape!
وَيَا جَامِعَ كُلِّ شَمْلٍ
wa ya jami`a kulli shamlin
O Reunifier of every scattering thing!
وَيَا بَارِئَ ٱلنُّفُوسِ بَعْدَ ٱلْمَوْتِ
wa ya bari'a alnnufusi ba`da almawti
O Re-originator of the souls after death!
يَا مَنْ هُوَ كُلِّ يَوْمٍ فِي شَأْنٍ
ya man huwa kulla yawmin fi sha'nin
O He Who is in a state every moment!
يَا قَاضِيَ ٱلْحَاجَاتِ
ya qadiya alhajati
O Grantor of requests!
يَا مُنَفِّسَ ٱلْكُرُبَاتِ
ya munaffisa alkurubati
O Reliever of agonies!
يَا مُعْطِيَ ٱلسُّؤُلاَتِ
ya mu`tiya alssu'ulati
O Conferrer of demands!
يَا وَلِيَّ ٱلرَّغَبَاتِ
ya waliyya alrraghabati
O Bestower of desires!


يَا كَافِيَ ٱلْمُهِمَّاتِ
ya kafiya almuhimmati
O Savior from sufferings!
يَا مَنْ يَكْفِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
ya man yakfi min kulli shay'in
O He Who can save from all things
وَلاَ يَكْفِي مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ فِي ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلأَرْضِ
wa la yakfi minhu shay'un fi alssamawati wal-ardi
and nothing in the heavens or in the earth can save from Him!
أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ
as'aluka bihaqqi muhammadin khatami alnnabiyyina
I beseech You in the name of Muhammad the seal of the Prophets,
وَعَلِيٍّ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
wa `aliyyin amiri almu'minina
`Ali the commander of the faithful,
وَبِحَقِّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ نَبِيِّكَ
wa bihaqqi fatimata binti nabiyyika
Fatimah the daughter of Your Prophet,
وَبِحَقِّ ٱلْحَسَنِ وَٱلْحُسَيْنِ
wa bihaqqi alhasani walhusayni
al-Hasan, and al-Husayn,
فَإِنِّي بِهِمْ أَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ فِي مَقَامِي هٰذَا
fa'inni bihim atawajjahu ilayka fi maqami hadha
for I turn my face towards You in their names at this very situation of mine,
وَبِهِمْ أَتَوَسَّلُ
wa bihim atawassalu
I make them my means to You,
وَبِهِمْ أَتَشَفَّعُ إِلَيْكَ
wa bihim atashaffa`u ilayka
I seek their intercession for me with You,
وَبِحَقِّهِمْ أَسْأَلُكَ وَأُقْسِمُ وَأَعْزِمُ عَلَيْكَ
wa bihaqqihim as'aluka wa uqsimu wa a`zimu `alayka
I beseech You in the name of Your duty towards them, I adjure You, and I beg You earnestly,
وَبِٱلشَّأْنِ ٱلَّذِي لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ
wa bilshsha'ni alladhi lahum `indaka
in the name of the status that they enjoy with You,
وَبِٱلْقَدْرِ ٱلَّذِي لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ
wa bilqadri alladhi lahum `indaka
the value that they enjoy in Your sight,
وَبِٱلَّذِي فَضَّلْتَهُمْ عَلَىٰ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa billadhi faddaltahum `ala al`alamina
in the name of the thing by which You have preferred them over all the other beings,
وَبِٱسْمِكَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلْتَهُ عِنْدَهُمْ
wa bismika alladhi ja`altahu `indahum
in the name of Your Name that You have placed with them
وَبِهِ خَصَصْتَهُمْ دُونَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa bihi khasastahum duna al`alamina
and given them exclusively other than all the other beings,
وَبِهِ أَبَنْتَهُمْ
wa bihi abantahum
and through which You have distinguished them
وَأَبَنْتَ فَضْلَهُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa abanta fadlahum min fadli al`alamina
and demonstrated their distinctive precedence over all the other beings so uniquely
حَتَّىٰ فَاقَ فَضْلُهُمْ فَضْلَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ جَمِيعاً
hatta faqa fadluhum fadla al`alamina jami`an
that their preference has exceeded all the distinctive features of all the other beings;
أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
as'aluka an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
I beseech You (in the name of all that) to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَأَنْ تَكْشِفَ عَنِّي غَمِّي
wa an takshifa `anni ghammi
to relieve me from my distress,
وَهَمِّي وَكَرْبِي
wa hammi wa karbi
grief, and agony,
وَتَكْفِيَنِي ٱلْمُهِمَّ مِنْ أُمُورِي
wa takfiyani almuhimma min umuri
to make up for me all my distressing affairs,
وَتَقْضِيَ عَنِّي دَيْنِي
wa taqdiya `anni dayni
to help me settle my debts,
وَتُجِيـرَنِي مِنَ ٱلْفَقْرِ
wa tujirani min alfaqri
to safeguard me against poverty,
وَتُجِيـرَنِي مِنَ ٱلْفَاقَةِ
wa tujirani min alfaqati
to safeguard me against scarcity,
وَتُغْنِيَنِي عَنِ ٱلْمَسْأَلَةِ إِلَىٰ ٱلْمَخْلُوقِينَ
wa tughniyani `an almas'alati ila almakhluqina
to make me dispense with begging from the created beings,
وَتَكْفِيَنِي هَمَّ مَنْ أَخَافُ هَمَّهُ
wa takfiyani hamma man akhafu hammahu
to spare me from the distress of what I anticipate to distress me,
وَعُسْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ عُسْرَهُ
wa `usra man akhafu `usrahu
the difficulty of what I anticipate to be difficult for me,
وَحُزُونَةَ مَنْ أَخَافُ حُزُونَتَهُ
wa huzunata man akhafu huzunatahu
the toughness of what I anticipate to be hard for me (to deal with),
وَشَرَّ مَنْ أَخَافُ شَرَّهُ
wa sharra man akhafu sharrahu
the evil of what I anticipate to be evil,
وَمَكْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ مَكْرَهُ
wa makra man akhafu makrahu
the conspiracy of whom I anticipate to plot conspiracy (against me),
وَبَغْيَ مَنْ أَخَافُ بَغْيَهُ
wa baghya man akhafu baghyahu
the tyranny of whom I anticipate to treat me tyrannically,
وَجَوْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ جَوْرَهُ
wa jawra man akhafu jawrahu
the injustice of whom I anticipate to be unjust to me
وَسُلْطَانَ مَنْ أَخَافُ سُلْطَانَهُ
wa sultana man akhafu sultanahu
the domination of whom I anticipate to dominate me,
وَكَيْدَ مَنْ أَخَافُ كَيْدَهُ
wa kayda man akhafu kaydahu
the trickery of whom I anticipate to trick me,
وَمَقْدُرَةَ مَنْ أَخَافُ مَقْدُرَتَهُ عَلَيَّ
wa maqdurata man akhafu maqduratahu `alayya
and the authority of whom I anticipate to seize me,
وَتَرُدَّ عَنِّي كَيْدَ ٱلْكَيَدَةِ
wa tarudda `anni kayda alkayadati
and to ward off from me the trickeries of the deceivers
وَمَكْرَ ٱلْمَكَرَةِ
wa makra almakarati
and the cunning of the devious.
اَللَّهُمَّ مَنْ أَرَادَنِي فَأَرِدْهُ
allahumma man aradani fa'arid-hu
O Allah, stand for me against him who intends evil for me,
وَمَنْ كَادَنِي فَكِدْهُ
wa man kadani fakid-hu
intrigue against him who intends to conspire against me,
وَٱصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُ وَمَكْرَهُ
wasrif `anni kaydahu wa makrahu
turn away from me his trickeries, cunning,
وَبَأْسَهُ وَأَمَانِيَّهُ
wa ba'sahu wa amaniyyahu
influence, and evil desires,
وَٱمْنَعْهُ عَنِّي كَيْفَ شِئْتَ وَأَنَّىٰ شِئْتَ
wamna`hu `anni kayfa shi'ta wa anna shi'ta
and prevent him against me in any way You choose and at any time You choose.
اَللَّهُمَّ أَشْغِلْهُ عَنِّي
allahumma ashghalhu `anni
O Allah, (please) preoccupy him against me
بِفَقْرٍ لاَ تَجْبُرُهُ
bifaqrin la tajburuhu
by means of poverty that You never cut down,
وَبِبَلاءٍ لاَ تَسْتُرُهُ
wa bibala'in la tasturuhu
ordeals that You never recover,
وَبِفَاقَةٍ لاَ تَسُدُّهَا
wa bifaqatin la tasudduha
neediness that You never stop,
وَبِسُقْمٍ لاَ تُعَافِيهِ
wa bisuqmin la tu`afihi
ailment that You never heal,
وَذُلٍّ لاَ تُعِزُّهُ
wa dhullin la tu`izzuhu
humility that You never change into dignity,
وَبِمَسْكَنَةٍ لاَ تَجْبُرُهَا
wa bimaskanatin la tajburuha
and destitution that You never cut down.
اَللَّهُمَّ ٱضْرِبْ بِٱلذُّلِّ نَصْبَ عَيْنَيْهِ
allahumma idrib bildhdhulli nasba `aynayhi
O Allah, (please) strike him with humility in the center of his eyes,
وَأَدْخِلْ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْفَقْرَ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ
wa adkhil `alayhi alfaqra fi manzilihi
interleave poverty to his own house,
وَٱلْعِلَّةَ وَٱلسُّقْمَ فِي بَدَنِهِ
wal`illata walssuqma fi badanihi
place ailment and disease in his body
حَتَّىٰ تَشْغَلَهُ عَنِّي بِشُغْلٍ شَاغِلٍ لاَ فَرَاغَ لَهُ
hatta tashghalahu `anni bishughlin shaghilin la faragha lahu
so that You will preoccupy him with an engrossing, relentless preoccupation,
وَأَنْسِهِ ذِكْرِي كَمَا أَنْسَيْتَهُ ذِكْرَكَ
wa ansihi dhikri kama ansaytahu dhikraka
make him fail to remember me in the same was as he has failed to remember You,
وَخُذْ عَنِّي بِسَمْعِهِ وَبَصَرِهِ
wa khudh `anni bisam`ihi wa basarihi
divert from me his hearing, sight,
وَلِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ
wa lisanihi wa yadihi
tongue, hand,
وَرِجْلِهِ وَقَلْبِهِ
wa rijlihi wa qalbihi
leg, heart,
وَجَمِيعِ جَوَارِحِهِ
wa jami`i jawarihihi
and all of his organs,
وَأَدْخِلْ عَلَيْهِ فِي جَمِيعِ ذٰلِكَ ٱلسُّقْمَ
wa adkhil `alayhi fi jami`i dhalika alssuqma
place in him sickness in all these (organs),
وَلا تَشْفِهِ حَتَّىٰ تَجْعَلَ ذٰلِكَ لَهُ شُغْلاً شَاغِلاً بِهِ
wa la tashfihi hatta taj`ala dhalika lahu shughlan shaghilan bihi
and do not heal him so that all these (sicknesses) will preoccupy him relentlessly
عَنِّي وَعَنْ ذِكْرِي
`anni wa `an dhikri
from me and from mentioning me.
وَٱكْفِنِي يَا كَافِي مَا لاَ يَكْفِي سِوَاكَ
wakfini ya kafi ma la yakfi siwaka
And spare me, O Savior, from all that which cannot be spared by anyone other than You,
فَإِنَّكَ ٱلْكَافِي لاَ كَافِيَ سِوَاكَ
fa'innaka alkafi la kafiya siwaka
for You are verily the Savior; and there is no savior other than You,
وَمُفَرِّجٌ لاَ مُفَرِّجَ سِوَاكَ
wa mufarrijun la mufarrija siwaka
You are verily the Reliever, and there is no reliever other than You,
وَمُغِيثٌ لاَ مُغِيثَ سِوَاكَ
wa mughithun la mughitha siwaka
You are verily the Succorer, and there is no succorer other than You,
وَجَارٌ لاَ جَارَ سِوَاكَ
wa jarun la jara siwaka
and You are verily the Shelterer, and there is no shelterer other than You.
خَابَ مَنْ كَانَ جَارُهُ سِوَاكَ
khaba man kana jaruhu siwaka
Disappointed is he whose shelterer is other than You,
وَمُغِيثُهُ سِوَاكَ
wa mughithuhu siwaka
whose recourse to anywhere other than You,
وَمَفْزَعُهُ إِلَىٰ سِوَاكَ
wa mafza`uhu ila siwaka
whose resort is anywhere other than You,
وَمَهْرَبُهُ إِلَىٰ سِوَاكَ
wa mahrabuhu ila siwaka
whose way out is anywhere other than You,
وَمَلْجَأُهُ إِلَىٰ غَيْرِكَ
wa malja'uhu ila ghayrika
whose haven is anywhere other than You,
وَمَنْجَاهُ مِنْ مَخْلُوقٍ غَيْرِكَ
wa manjahu min makhluqin ghayrika
and whose savior from any created being is anyone other than You.
فَأَنْتَ ثِقَتِي وَرَجَائِي
fa'anta thiqati wa raja'i
You are verily my trust, my hope,
وَمَفْزَعِي وَمَهْرَبِي
wa mafza`i wa mahrabi
my resort, my way out,
وَمَلْجَإِي وَمَنْجَايَ
wa malja'i wa manjaya
my haven, and my savior.
فَبِكَ أَسْتَفْتِحُ
fabika astaftihu
With You do I commence
وَبِكَ أَسْتَنْجِحُ
wa bika astanjihu
and through You do I seek success.
وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
wa bimuhammadin wa ali muhammadin
In the name of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
أَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ وَأَتَوَسَّلُ وَأَتَشَفَّعُ
atawajjahu ilayka wa atawassalu wa atashaffa`u
do I turn my face towards You, seek means to You, and seek intercession to You.
فَأَسْأَلُكَ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ
fa'as'aluka ya allahu ya allahu ya allahu
So, I beseech You, O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ وَلَكَ ٱلشُّكْرُ
falaka alhamdu wa laka alshshukru
Yours is all praise and Yours is all thanks.
وَإِلَيْكَ ٱلْمُشْتَكَىٰ وَأَنْتَ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ
wa ilayka almushtaka wa anta almusta`anu
To You is my complaint and You are the Besought for help.
فَأَسْأَلُكَ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ
fa'as'aluka ya allahu ya allahu ya allahu
So, I beseech You, O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!\
بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّـدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّـدٍ
bihaqqi muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
In the name of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
وَأَنْ تَكْشِفَ عَنِّي غَمِّي وَهَمِّي وَكَرْبِي
wa an takshifa `anni ghammi wa hammi wa karbi
and to relieve my distress, grief, and agony
فِي مَقَامِي هٰذَا
fi maqami hadha
in this situation of mine
كَمَا كَشَفْتَ عَنْ نَبِيِّكَ هَمَّهُ وَغَمَّهُ وَكَرْبَهُ
kama kashafta `an nabiyyika hammahu wa ghammahu wa karbahu
in the same way as You have relieved the distress, grief, and agony of Your Prophet
وَكَفَيْتَهُ هَوْلَ عَدُوِّهِ
wa kafaytahu hawla `aduwwihi
and saved him from the horrors of his enemy.
فَٱكْشِفْ عَنِّي كَمَا كَشَفْتَ عَنْهُ
fakshif `anni kama kashafta `anhu
So, (please) relieve me in the same way as You did to him,
وَفَرِّجْ عَنِّي كَمَا فَرَّجْتَ عَنْهُ
wa farrij `anni kama farrajta `anhu
dispel my worries in the same way as You did to him,
وَٱكْفِنِي كَمَا كَفَيْتَهُ
wakfini kama kafaytahu
save me in the same way as You did to him,
وَٱصْرِفْ عَنِّي هَوْلَ مَا أَخَافُ هَوْلَهُ
wasrif `anni hawla ma akhafu hawlahu
drive away from me the horror of what I anticipate to horrify me,
وَمَؤُونَةَ مَا أَخَافُ مَؤُونَتَهُ
wa ma'unata ma akhafu ma'unatahu
the encumbrance of what I anticipate to overburden me,
وَهَمَّ مَا أَخَافُ هَمَّهُ
wa hamma ma akhafu hammahu
and the distress of what I anticipate to distress me
بِلا مَؤُونَةٍ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي مِنْ ذٰلِكَ
bila ma'unatin `ala nafsi min dhalika
without making me suffer any encumbrance due to all that.
وَٱصْرِفْنِي بِقَضَاءِ حَوَائِجِي
wasrifni biqada'i hawa'iji
And make me leave having all my requests granted
وَكِفَايَةِ مَا أَهَمَّنِي هَمُّهُ
wa kifayati ma ahammani hammahu
and having all my distresses relieved,\
مِنْ أَمْرِ آخِرَتِي وَدُنْيَايَ
min amri akhirati wa dunyaya
including the affairs of this world and the Hereafter.
يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
ya amira almu'minina
O Commander of the Faithful!
وَيَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ
wa ya aba `abdillahi
O Abu-`Abdullah!
عَلَيْكُمَا مِنِّي سَلامُ ٱللَّهِ أَبَداً
`alaykuma minni salamu allahi abadan
Peace of Allah be upon you both from me forever
مَا بَقِيتُ وَبَقِيَ ٱللَّيْلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ
ma baqitu wa baqiya allaylu walnnaharu
as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.
وَلاَ جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ آخِرَ ٱلْعَهْدِ مِنْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
wa la ja`alahu allahu akhira al`ahdi min ziyaratikuma
May Allah not decide this time of my visit to you both to be the last.
وَلاَ فَرَّقَ ٱللَّهُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمَا
wa la farraqa allahu bayni wa baynakuma
May Allah never separate me from you both.
اَللَّهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي حَيَاةَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ
allahumma ahyini hayata muhammadin wa dhurriyyatihi
O Allah, (please) make me live the same lifestyle that Muhammad and his offspring lived,
وَأَمِتْنِي مَمَاتَهُمْ
wa amitni mamatahum
make me die on the same faith on which they died,
وَتَوَفَّنِي عَلَىٰ مِلَّتِهِمْ
wa tawaffani `ala millatihim
receive my soul while I am following their religion,
وَٱحْشُرْنِي فِي زُمْرَتِهِمْ
wahshurni fi zumratihim
include me with their group,
وَلاَ تُفَرِّقْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ
wa la tufarriq bayni wa baynahum
and never separate me from them
طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ أَبَداً
tarfata `aynin abadan
not for even a winking of any eye
فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ
fi alddunya wal-akhirati
in this world and in the Hereafter.
يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
ya amira almu'minina
O Commander of the Faithful!
وَيَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ
wa ya aba `abdillahi
O Abu-`Abdullah!
أَتَيْتُكُمَا زَائِراً
ataytukuma za'iran
I have come to you both to visit you,
وَمُتَوَسِّلاً إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمَا
wa mutawassilan ila allahi rabbi wa rabbikuma
making both of you to be my means to Allah your and my Lord,
وَمُتَوَجِّهاً إِلَيْهِ بِكُمَا
wa mutawajjihan ilayhi bikuma
turning my face to Him in your names,
وَمُسْتَشْفِعاً بِكُمَا إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ تَعَالَىٰ فِي حَاجَتِي هٰذِهِ
wa mustashfi`an bikuma ila allahi ta`ala fi hajati hadhihi
and seeking your intercession for me with Allah All-exalted to grant me this request of mine;
فَٱشْفَعَا لِي
fashfa`a li
so, intercede for me,
فَإِنَّ لَكُمَا عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمَقَامَ ٱلْمَحْمُودَ
fa'inna lakuma `inda allahi almaqama almahmuda
since you both enjoy with Allah a praiseworthy position,
وَٱلْجَاهَ ٱلْوَجِيهَ
waljaha alwajiha
an admissible status,
وَٱلْمَنْزِلَ ٱلرَّفِيعَ وَٱلْوَسِيلَةَ
walmanzila alrrafi`a walwasilata
a lofty standing, and a means (of nearness to Him).
إِنِّي أَنْقَلِبُ عَنْكُمَا
inni anqalibu `ankuma
I will now leave you both,
مُنْتَظِراً لِتَنَجُّزِ ٱلْحَاجَةِ
muntaziran litanajjuzi alhajati
expecting my request to be granted,
وَقَضَائِهَا وَنَجَاحِهَا مِنَ ٱللَّهِ
wa qada'iha wa najahiha min allahi
settled, and made successful by Allah
بِشَفَاعَتِكُمَا لِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ فِي ذٰلِكَ
bishafa`atikuma li ila allahi fi dhalika
on account of your intercession for me with Allah in that;
فَلا أَخِيبُ
fala akhibu
so, do not let me down
وَلاَ يَكونُ مُنْقَلَبِي مُنْقَلَباً خَائِباً خَاسِراً
wa la yakunu munqalabi munqalaban kha'iban khasiran
and do not make me leave with disappointment and loss;
بَلْ يَكُونُ مُنْقَلَبِي مُنْقَلَباً رَاجِحاً
bal yakunu munqalabi munqalaban rajihan
rather, make me leave with achievement,
مُفْلِحاً مُنْجِحاً مُسْتَجَاباً
muflihan munjihan mustajaban
prosperity, success, and response (of my prayers)
بِقَضَاءِ جَمِيعِ حَوَائِجِي
biqada'i jami`i hawa'iji
by having all my requests granted.
وَتَشَفَّعَا لِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
wa tashaffa`a li ila allahi
And (please) intercede for me with Allah recurrently.
إِنْقَلَبْتُ عَلَىٰ مَا شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ
inqalabtu `ala ma sha'a allahu
I now leave on ‘whatever is willed by Allah shall come to pass’
وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ
wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi
and ‘there is neither might nor power except with Allah’,
مُفَوِّضاً أَمْرِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
mufawwidan amri ila allahi
relegating all my affairs to Allah,
مُلْجِئاً ظَهْرِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
mulji'an zahri ila allahi
referring all my power to Allah,
مُتَوَكِّلاً عَلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
mutawakklan `ala allahi
depending upon Allah,
وَأَقُولُ حَسْبِيَ ٱللَّهُ وَكَفَىٰ
wa aqulu hasbiya allahu wa kafa
and repeating, ‘Allah is only sufficient to me,’
سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَنْ دَعَا
sami`a allahu liman da`a
and ‘May Allah respond to him who prays Him.’
لَيْسَ لِي وَرَاءَ ٱللَّهِ
laysa li wara'a allahi
Other than Allah
وَوَرَاءَكُمْ يَا سَادَتِي مُنْتَهَىٰ
wa wara'akum ya sadati muntaha
and other than you all, O my masters, I have nothing to put my hope in.
مَا شَاءَ رَبِّي كَانَ
ma sha'a rabbi kana
Only that which my Lord wills shall come to pass,
وَمَا لَمْ يَشَأْ لَمْ يَكُنْ
wa ma lam yasha' lam yakun
and whatever He does not will shall never be.
وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ
wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi
There is neither might nor power except with Allah.
أَسْتَوْدِعُكُمَا ٱللَّهَ
astawdi`ukuma allaha
I entrust you both with Allah.
وَلا جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ آخِرَ ٱلْعَهْدِ مِنِّي إِلَيْكُمَا
wa la ja`alahu allahu akhira al`ahdi minni ilaykuma
May Allah never decide this time of my visit to you both to be the last.
إِنْصَرَفْتُ يَا سَيِّدِي يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَمَوْلاَي
insaraftu ya sayyidi ya amira almu'minina wa mawlaya
May I now leave, O my master, O Commander of the faithful
وَأَنْتَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ يَا سَيِّدِي
wa anta ya aba `abdillahi ya sayyidi
and you O Abu-`Abdullah, O my master.
وَسَلاَمِي عَلَيْكُمَا مُتَّصِلٌ
wa salami `alaykuma muttasilun
My greetings to you both are as continuous
مَا ٱتَّصَلَ ٱللَّيْلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ
ma ittasala allaylu walnnaharu
as night and day.
وَاصِلٌ ذٰلِكَ إِلَيْكُمَا
wasilun dhalika ilaykuma
May my greetings reach you both (all the time)
غَيْرُ مَحْجُوبٍ عَنْكُمَا سَلاَمِي
ghayru mahjubin `ankuma salami
and my salutation never be screened from reaching you both,
إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ
in sha'a allahu
Allah willing.
وَأَسْأَلُهُ بِحَقِّكُمَا أَنْ يَشَاءَ ذٰلِكَ وَيَفْعَلَ
wa as'aluhu bihaqqikuma an yasha'a dhalika wa yaf`ala
I also beseech Him in your names to determine and do that,
فَإِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
fa'innahu hamidun majidun
for He is verily the owner of praise and the owner of glory.
إِنْقَلَبْتُ يَا سَيِّدَيَّ عَنْكُمَا
inqalabtu ya sayyidayya `ankuma
I am now leaving you both, O my masters,
تَائِباً حَامِداً لِلَّهِ
ta'iban hamidan lillahi
repenting to and praising Allah,
شَاكِراً رَاجِياً لِلإِْجَابَةِ
shakiran rajiyan lil-ijabati
and thanking Him and hoping Him to respond to me;
غَيْرَ آيِسٍ وَلاَ قَانِطٍ
ghayra ayisin wa la qanitin
I neither despair nor lose hope,
آئِباً عَائِداً رَاجِعاً إِلَىٰ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
a'iban `a'idan raji`an ila ziyaratikuma
and I intend to come back, return, revisit you both,
غَيْرَ رَاغِبٍ عَنْكُمَا وَلاَ عَنْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
ghayra raghibin `ankuma wa la `an ziyaratikuma
while I have never desired to leave you or to abandon visiting you;
بَلْ رَاجِعٌ عَائِدٌ إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ
bal raji`un `a'idun in sha'a allahu
rather, I shall return and come back, if Allah wills.
وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ
wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi
There is neither might nor power except with Allah.
يَا سَادَتِي رَغِبْتُ إِلَيْكُمَا وَإِلَىٰ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
ya sadati raghibtu ilaykuma wa ila ziyaratikuma
O my masters, I do desire for both of you and for visiting you
بَعْدَ أَنْ زَهِدَ فِيكُمَا وَفِي زِيَارَتِكُمَا أَهْلُ ٱلدُّنْيَا
ba`da an zahida fikuma wa fi ziyaratikuma ahlu alddunya
although the people of this world (may) abandon you both or abandon visiting you.
فَلاَ خَيَّبَنِيَ ٱللَّهُ مِمَّا رَجَوْتُ وَمَا أَمَّلْتُ فِي زِيَارَتِكُمَا
fala khayyabaniya allahu mimma rajawtu wa ma ammaltu fi ziyaratikuma
May Allah never make me fail to attain what I have hoped and desired in visiting you both.
إِنَّهُ قَرِيبٌ مُجِيبٌ
innahu qaribun mujibun

Verily, He is All-nigh, All-responding.
يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ
ya allahu ya allahu ya allahu
O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!

يَا مُجِيبَ دَعْوَةِ ٱلْمُضْطَرِّينَ
ya mujiba da`wati almudtarrina
O He Who responds to the prayer of the distressed!

يَا كَاشِفَ كُرَبِ ٱلْمَكْرُوبِينَ
ya kashifa kurabi almakrubina
O He Who relieves the agonies of the agonized!

يَا غِيَاثَ ٱلْمُسْتَغِيثِينَ
ya ghiyatha almustaghithina
O Aide of the callers for aid!

يَا صَرِيخَ ٱلْمُسْتَصْرِخِينَ
ya sarikha almustasrikhina
O Helper of those who cry for help!

وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيَّ مِنْ حَبْلِ ٱلْوَرِيدِ
wa ya man huwa aqrabu ilayya min habli alwaridi
O He Who is nearer to me than my life-vein!

وَيَا مَنْ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ ٱلْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ
wa ya man yahulu bayna almar'i wa qalbihi
O He Who intervenes between man and his heart!

وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ بِٱلْمَنْظَرِ ٱلأَعْلَىٰ وَبِٱلأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
wa ya man huwa bilmanzari al-a`la wa bil'ufuqi almubini
O He Who is in the Highest Position and in the Clear Horizon!

وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ عَلَىٰ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱسْتَوَىٰ
wa ya man huwa alrrahmanu alrrahimu `ala al`arshi istawa
O He Who is all-beneficent and all-merciful and is established on the Throne!

وَيَا مَنْ يَعْلَمُ خَائِنَةَ ٱلأَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِي ٱلصُّدُورُ
wa ya man ya`lamu kha'inata al-a`yuni wa ma tukhfi alssuduru
O He Who knows the stealthy looks and that which the breasts conceal!

وَيَا مَنْ لاَ يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْهِ خَافِيَةٌ
wa ya man la yakhfa `alayhi khafiyatun
O He from Whom no secret can remain hidden!

يَا مَنْ لاَ تَشْتَبِهُ عَلَيْهِ ٱلأَصْوَاتُ
ya man la tashtabihu `alayhi al-aswatu
O He Whom is not confused by the many voices (that pray Him)!

وَيَا مَنْ لاَ تُغَلِّطُهُ ٱلْحَاجَاتُ
wa ya man la tughallituhu alhajatu
O He Whom is not confounded by the many requests (that are raised to Him)!

وَيَا مَنْ لاَ يُبْرِمُهُ إِلْحَاحُ ٱلْمُلِحِّينَ
wa ya man la yubrimuhu ilhahu almulihhina
O He Who is not annoyed by the insistence of those who entreat Him persistently!

يَا مُدْرِكَ كُلِّ فَوْتٍ
ya mudrika kulli fawtin
O He Who overtakes every attempt of escape!

وَيَا جَامِعَ كُلِّ شَمْلٍ
wa ya jami`a kulli shamlin
O Reunifier of every scattering thing!

وَيَا بَارِئَ ٱلنُّفُوسِ بَعْدَ ٱلْمَوْتِ
wa ya bari'a alnnufusi ba`da almawti
O Re-originator of the souls after death!

يَا مَنْ هُوَ كُلِّ يَوْمٍ فِي شَأْنٍ
ya man huwa kulla yawmin fi sha'nin
O He Who is in a state every moment!

يَا قَاضِيَ ٱلْحَاجَاتِ
ya qadiya alhajati
O Grantor of requests!

يَا مُنَفِّسَ ٱلْكُرُبَاتِ
ya munaffisa alkurubati
O Reliever of agonies!

يَا مُعْطِيَ ٱلسُّؤُلاَتِ
ya mu`tiya alssu'ulati
O Conferrer of demands!

يَا وَلِيَّ ٱلرَّغَبَاتِ
ya waliyya alrraghabati
O Bestower of desires!

يَا كَافِيَ ٱلْمُهِمَّاتِ
ya kafiya almuhimmati
O Savior from sufferings!

يَا مَنْ يَكْفِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
ya man yakfi min kulli shay'in
O He Who can save from all things

وَلاَ يَكْفِي مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ فِي ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلأَرْضِ
wa la yakfi minhu shay'un fi alssamawati wal-ardi
and nothing in the heavens or in the earth can save from Him!

أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ
as'aluka bihaqqi muhammadin khatami alnnabiyyina
I beseech You in the name of Muhammad the seal of the Prophets,

وَعَلِيٍّ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
wa `aliyyin amiri almu'minina
`Ali the commander of the faithful,

وَبِحَقِّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ نَبِيِّكَ
wa bihaqqi fatimata binti nabiyyika
Fatimah the daughter of Your Prophet,

وَبِحَقِّ ٱلْحَسَنِ وَٱلْحُسَيْنِ
wa bihaqqi alhasani walhusayni
al-Hasan, and al-Husayn,

فَإِنِّي بِهِمْ أَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ فِي مَقَامِي هٰذَا
fa'inni bihim atawajjahu ilayka fi maqami hadha
for I turn my face towards You in their names at this very situation of mine,

وَبِهِمْ أَتَوَسَّلُ
wa bihim atawassalu
I make them my means to You,

وَبِهِمْ أَتَشَفَّعُ إِلَيْكَ
wa bihim atashaffa`u ilayka
I seek their intercession for me with You,

وَبِحَقِّهِمْ أَسْأَلُكَ وَأُقْسِمُ وَأَعْزِمُ عَلَيْكَ
wa bihaqqihim as'aluka wa uqsimu wa a`zimu `alayka
I beseech You in the name of Your duty towards them, I adjure You, and I beg You earnestly,

وَبِٱلشَّأْنِ ٱلَّذِي لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ
wa bilshsha'ni alladhi lahum `indaka
in the name of the status that they enjoy with You,

وَبِٱلْقَدْرِ ٱلَّذِي لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ
wa bilqadri alladhi lahum `indaka
the value that they enjoy in Your sight,

وَبِٱلَّذِي فَضَّلْتَهُمْ عَلَىٰ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa billadhi faddaltahum `ala al`alamina
in the name of the thing by which You have preferred them over all the other beings,

وَبِٱسْمِكَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلْتَهُ عِنْدَهُمْ
wa bismika alladhi ja`altahu `indahum
in the name of Your Name that You have placed with them

وَبِهِ خَصَصْتَهُمْ دُونَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa bihi khasastahum duna al`alamina
and given them exclusively other than all the other beings,

وَبِهِ أَبَنْتَهُمْ
wa bihi abantahum
and through which You have distinguished them

وَأَبَنْتَ فَضْلَهُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa abanta fadlahum min fadli al`alamina
and demonstrated their distinctive precedence over all the other beings so uniquely

حَتَّىٰ فَاقَ فَضْلُهُمْ فَضْلَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ جَمِيعاً
hatta faqa fadluhum fadla al`alamina jami`an
that their preference has exceeded all the distinctive features of all the other beings;

أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
as'aluka an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
I beseech You (in the name of all that) to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَأَنْ تَكْشِفَ عَنِّي غَمِّي
wa an takshifa `anni ghammi
to relieve me from my distress,

وَهَمِّي وَكَرْبِي
wa hammi wa karbi
grief, and agony,

وَتَكْفِيَنِي ٱلْمُهِمَّ مِنْ أُمُورِي
wa takfiyani almuhimma min umuri
to make up for me all my distressing affairs,

وَتَقْضِيَ عَنِّي دَيْنِي
wa taqdiya `anni dayni
to help me settle my debts,

وَتُجِيـرَنِي مِنَ ٱلْفَقْرِ
wa tujirani min alfaqri
to safeguard me against poverty,

وَتُجِيـرَنِي مِنَ ٱلْفَاقَةِ
wa tujirani min alfaqati
to safeguard me against scarcity,

وَتُغْنِيَنِي عَنِ ٱلْمَسْأَلَةِ إِلَىٰ ٱلْمَخْلُوقِينَ
wa tughniyani `an almas'alati ila almakhluqina
to make me dispense with begging from the created beings,

وَتَكْفِيَنِي هَمَّ مَنْ أَخَافُ هَمَّهُ
wa takfiyani hamma man akhafu hammahu
to spare me from the distress of what I anticipate to distress me,

وَعُسْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ عُسْرَهُ
wa `usra man akhafu `usrahu
the difficulty of what I anticipate to be difficult for me,

وَحُزُونَةَ مَنْ أَخَافُ حُزُونَتَهُ
wa huzunata man akhafu huzunatahu
the toughness of what I anticipate to be hard for me (to deal with),

وَشَرَّ مَنْ أَخَافُ شَرَّهُ
wa sharra man akhafu sharrahu
the evil of what I anticipate to be evil,

وَمَكْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ مَكْرَهُ
wa makra man akhafu makrahu
the conspiracy of whom I anticipate to plot conspiracy (against me),

وَبَغْيَ مَنْ أَخَافُ بَغْيَهُ
wa baghya man akhafu baghyahu
the tyranny of whom I anticipate to treat me tyrannically,

وَجَوْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ جَوْرَهُ
wa jawra man akhafu jawrahu
the injustice of whom I anticipate to be unjust to me

وَسُلْطَانَ مَنْ أَخَافُ سُلْطَانَهُ
wa sultana man akhafu sultanahu
the domination of whom I anticipate to dominate me,

وَكَيْدَ مَنْ أَخَافُ كَيْدَهُ
wa kayda man akhafu kaydahu
the trickery of whom I anticipate to trick me,

وَمَقْدُرَةَ مَنْ أَخَافُ مَقْدُرَتَهُ عَلَيَّ
wa maqdurata man akhafu maqduratahu `alayya
and the authority of whom I anticipate to seize me,

وَتَرُدَّ عَنِّي كَيْدَ ٱلْكَيَدَةِ
wa tarudda `anni kayda alkayadati
and to ward off from me the trickeries of the deceivers

وَمَكْرَ ٱلْمَكَرَةِ
wa makra almakarati
and the cunning of the devious.

اَللَّهُمَّ مَنْ أَرَادَنِي فَأَرِدْهُ
allahumma man aradani fa'arid-hu
O Allah, stand for me against him who intends evil for me,

وَمَنْ كَادَنِي فَكِدْهُ
wa man kadani fakid-hu
intrigue against him who intends to conspire against me,

وَٱصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُ وَمَكْرَهُ
wasrif `anni kaydahu wa makrahu
turn away from me his trickeries, cunning,

وَبَأْسَهُ وَأَمَانِيَّهُ
wa ba'sahu wa amaniyyahu
influence, and evil desires,

وَٱمْنَعْهُ عَنِّي كَيْفَ شِئْتَ وَأَنَّىٰ شِئْتَ
wamna`hu `anni kayfa shi'ta wa anna shi'ta
and prevent him against me in any way You choose and at any time You choose.

اَللَّهُمَّ أَشْغِلْهُ عَنِّي
allahumma ashghalhu `anni
O Allah, (please) preoccupy him against me

بِفَقْرٍ لاَ تَجْبُرُهُ
bifaqrin la tajburuhu
by means of poverty that You never cut down,

وَبِبَلاءٍ لاَ تَسْتُرُهُ
wa bibala'in la tasturuhu
ordeals that You never recover,

وَبِفَاقَةٍ لاَ تَسُدُّهَا
wa bifaqatin la tasudduha
neediness that You never stop,

وَبِسُقْمٍ لاَ تُعَافِيهِ
wa bisuqmin la tu`afihi
ailment that You never heal,

وَذُلٍّ لاَ تُعِزُّهُ
wa dhullin la tu`izzuhu
humility that You never change into dignity,

وَبِمَسْكَنَةٍ لاَ تَجْبُرُهَا
wa bimaskanatin la tajburuha
and destitution that You never cut down.

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱضْرِبْ بِٱلذُّلِّ نَصْبَ عَيْنَيْهِ
allahumma idrib bildhdhulli nasba `aynayhi
O Allah, (please) strike him with humility in the center of his eyes,

وَأَدْخِلْ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْفَقْرَ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ
wa adkhil `alayhi alfaqra fi manzilihi
interleave poverty to his own house,

وَٱلْعِلَّةَ وَٱلسُّقْمَ فِي بَدَنِهِ
wal`illata walssuqma fi badanihi
place ailment and disease in his body

حَتَّىٰ تَشْغَلَهُ عَنِّي بِشُغْلٍ شَاغِلٍ لاَ فَرَاغَ لَهُ
hatta tashghalahu `anni bishughlin shaghilin la faragha lahu
so that You will preoccupy him with an engrossing, relentless preoccupation,

وَأَنْسِهِ ذِكْرِي كَمَا أَنْسَيْتَهُ ذِكْرَكَ
wa ansihi dhikri kama ansaytahu dhikraka
make him fail to remember me in the same was as he has failed to remember You,

وَخُذْ عَنِّي بِسَمْعِهِ وَبَصَرِهِ
wa khudh `anni bisam`ihi wa basarihi
divert from me his hearing, sight,

وَلِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ
wa lisanihi wa yadihi
tongue, hand,

وَرِجْلِهِ وَقَلْبِهِ
wa rijlihi wa qalbihi
leg, heart,

وَجَمِيعِ جَوَارِحِهِ
wa jami`i jawarihihi
and all of his organs,

وَأَدْخِلْ عَلَيْهِ فِي جَمِيعِ ذٰلِكَ ٱلسُّقْمَ
wa adkhil `alayhi fi jami`i dhalika alssuqma
place in him sickness in all these (organs),

وَلا تَشْفِهِ حَتَّىٰ تَجْعَلَ ذٰلِكَ لَهُ شُغْلاً شَاغِلاً بِهِ
wa la tashfihi hatta taj`ala dhalika lahu shughlan shaghilan bihi
and do not heal him so that all these (sicknesses) will preoccupy him relentlessly

عَنِّي وَعَنْ ذِكْرِي
`anni wa `an dhikri
from me and from mentioning me.

وَٱكْفِنِي يَا كَافِي مَا لاَ يَكْفِي سِوَاكَ
wakfini ya kafi ma la yakfi siwaka
And spare me, O Savior, from all that which cannot be spared by anyone other than You,

فَإِنَّكَ ٱلْكَافِي لاَ كَافِيَ سِوَاكَ
fa'innaka alkafi la kafiya siwaka
for You are verily the Savior; and there is no savior other than You,

وَمُفَرِّجٌ لاَ مُفَرِّجَ سِوَاكَ
wa mufarrijun la mufarrija siwaka
You are verily the Reliever, and there is no reliever other than You,

وَمُغِيثٌ لاَ مُغِيثَ سِوَاكَ
wa mughithun la mughitha siwaka
You are verily the Succorer, and there is no succorer other than You,

وَجَارٌ لاَ جَارَ سِوَاكَ
wa jarun la jara siwaka
and You are verily the Shelterer, and there is no shelterer other than You.

خَابَ مَنْ كَانَ جَارُهُ سِوَاكَ
khaba man kana jaruhu siwaka
Disappointed is he whose shelterer is other than You,

وَمُغِيثُهُ سِوَاكَ
wa mughithuhu siwaka
whose recourse to anywhere other than You,

وَمَفْزَعُهُ إِلَىٰ سِوَاكَ
wa mafza`uhu ila siwaka
whose resort is anywhere other than You,

وَمَهْرَبُهُ إِلَىٰ سِوَاكَ
wa mahrabuhu ila siwaka
whose way out is anywhere other than You,

وَمَلْجَأُهُ إِلَىٰ غَيْرِكَ
wa malja'uhu ila ghayrika
whose haven is anywhere other than You,

وَمَنْجَاهُ مِنْ مَخْلُوقٍ غَيْرِكَ
wa manjahu min makhluqin ghayrika
and whose savior from any created being is anyone other than You.

فَأَنْتَ ثِقَتِي وَرَجَائِي
fa'anta thiqati wa raja'i
You are verily my trust, my hope,

وَمَفْزَعِي وَمَهْرَبِي
wa mafza`i wa mahrabi
my resort, my way out,

وَمَلْجَإِي وَمَنْجَايَ
wa malja'i wa manjaya
my haven, and my savior.

فَبِكَ أَسْتَفْتِحُ
fabika astaftihu
With You do I commence

وَبِكَ أَسْتَنْجِحُ
wa bika astanjihu
and through You do I seek success.

وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
wa bimuhammadin wa ali muhammadin
In the name of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

أَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ وَأَتَوَسَّلُ وَأَتَشَفَّعُ
atawajjahu ilayka wa atawassalu wa atashaffa`u
do I turn my face towards You, seek means to You, and seek intercession to You.

فَأَسْأَلُكَ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ
fa'as'aluka ya allahu ya allahu ya allahu
So, I beseech You, O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!

فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ وَلَكَ ٱلشُّكْرُ
falaka alhamdu wa laka alshshukru
Yours is all praise and Yours is all thanks.

وَإِلَيْكَ ٱلْمُشْتَكَىٰ وَأَنْتَ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ
wa ilayka almushtaka wa anta almusta`anu
To You is my complaint and You are the Besought for help.

فَأَسْأَلُكَ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ
fa'as'aluka ya allahu ya allahu ya allahu
So, I beseech You, O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!

بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّـدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّـدٍ
bihaqqi muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
In the name of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَأَنْ تَكْشِفَ عَنِّي غَمِّي وَهَمِّي وَكَرْبِي
wa an takshifa `anni ghammi wa hammi wa karbi
and to relieve my distress, grief, and agony

فِي مَقَامِي هٰذَا
fi maqami hadha
in this situation of mine

كَمَا كَشَفْتَ عَنْ نَبِيِّكَ هَمَّهُ وَغَمَّهُ وَكَرْبَهُ
kama kashafta `an nabiyyika hammahu wa ghammahu wa karbahu
in the same way as You have relieved the distress, grief, and agony of Your Prophet

وَكَفَيْتَهُ هَوْلَ عَدُوِّهِ
wa kafaytahu hawla `aduwwihi
and saved him from the horrors of his enemy.

فَٱكْشِفْ عَنِّي كَمَا كَشَفْتَ عَنْهُ
fakshif `anni kama kashafta `anhu
So, (please) relieve me in the same way as You did to him,

وَفَرِّجْ عَنِّي كَمَا فَرَّجْتَ عَنْهُ
wa farrij `anni kama farrajta `anhu
dispel my worries in the same way as You did to him,

وَٱكْفِنِي كَمَا كَفَيْتَهُ
wakfini kama kafaytahu
save me in the same way as You did to him,

وَٱصْرِفْ عَنِّي هَوْلَ مَا أَخَافُ هَوْلَهُ
wasrif `anni hawla ma akhafu hawlahu
drive away from me the horror of what I anticipate to horrify me,

وَمَؤُونَةَ مَا أَخَافُ مَؤُونَتَهُ
wa ma'unata ma akhafu ma'unatahu
the encumbrance of what I anticipate to overburden me,

وَهَمَّ مَا أَخَافُ هَمَّهُ
wa hamma ma akhafu hammahu
and the distress of what I anticipate to distress me

بِلا مَؤُونَةٍ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي مِنْ ذٰلِكَ
bila ma'unatin `ala nafsi min dhalika
without making me suffer any encumbrance due to all that.

وَٱصْرِفْنِي بِقَضَاءِ حَوَائِجِي
wasrifni biqada'i hawa'iji
And make me leave having all my requests granted

وَكِفَايَةِ مَا أَهَمَّنِي هَمُّهُ
wa kifayati ma ahammani hammahu
and having all my distresses relieved,

مِنْ أَمْرِ آخِرَتِي وَدُنْيَايَ
min amri akhirati wa dunyaya
including the affairs of this world and the Hereafter.

يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
ya amira almu'minina
O Commander of the Faithful!

وَيَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ
wa ya aba `abdillahi
O Abu-`Abdullah!

عَلَيْكُمَا مِنِّي سَلامُ ٱللَّهِ أَبَداً
`alaykuma minni salamu allahi abadan
Peace of Allah be upon you both from me forever

مَا بَقِيتُ وَبَقِيَ ٱللَّيْلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ
ma baqitu wa baqiya allaylu walnnaharu
as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.

وَلاَ جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ آخِرَ ٱلْعَهْدِ مِنْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
wa la ja`alahu allahu akhira al`ahdi min ziyaratikuma
May Allah not decide this time of my visit to you both to be the last.

وَلاَ فَرَّقَ ٱللَّهُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمَا
wa la farraqa allahu bayni wa baynakuma
May Allah never separate me from you both.

اَللَّهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي حَيَاةَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ
allahumma ahyini hayata muhammadin wa dhurriyyatihi
O Allah, (please) make me live the same lifestyle that Muhammad and his offspring lived,

وَأَمِتْنِي مَمَاتَهُمْ
wa amitni mamatahum
make me die on the same faith on which they died,

وَتَوَفَّنِي عَلَىٰ مِلَّتِهِمْ
wa tawaffani `ala millatihim
receive my soul while I am following their religion,

وَٱحْشُرْنِي فِي زُمْرَتِهِمْ
wahshurni fi zumratihim
include me with their group,

وَلاَ تُفَرِّقْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ
wa la tufarriq bayni wa baynahum
and never separate me from them

طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ أَبَداً
tarfata `aynin abadan
not for even a winking of any eye

فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ
fi alddunya wal-akhirati
in this world and in the Hereafter.

يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
ya amira almu'minina
O Commander of the Faithful!

وَيَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ
wa ya aba `abdillahi
O Abu-`Abdullah!

أَتَيْتُكُمَا زَائِراً
ataytukuma za'iran
I have come to you both to visit you,

وَمُتَوَسِّلاً إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمَا
wa mutawassilan ila allahi rabbi wa rabbikuma
making both of you to be my means to Allah your and my Lord,

وَمُتَوَجِّهاً إِلَيْهِ بِكُمَا
wa mutawajjihan ilayhi bikuma
turning my face to Him in your names,

وَمُسْتَشْفِعاً بِكُمَا إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ تَعَالَىٰ فِي حَاجَتِي هٰذِهِ
wa mustashfi`an bikuma ila allahi ta`ala fi hajati hadhihi
and seeking your intercession for me with Allah All-exalted to grant me this request of mine;

فَٱشْفَعَا لِي
fashfa`a li
so, intercede for me,

فَإِنَّ لَكُمَا عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمَقَامَ ٱلْمَحْمُودَ
fa'inna lakuma `inda allahi almaqama almahmuda
since you both enjoy with Allah a praiseworthy position,

وَٱلْجَاهَ ٱلْوَجِيهَ
waljaha alwajiha
an admissible status,

وَٱلْمَنْزِلَ ٱلرَّفِيعَ وَٱلْوَسِيلَةَ
walmanzila alrrafi`a walwasilata
a lofty standing, and a means (of nearness to Him).

إِنِّي أَنْقَلِبُ عَنْكُمَا
inni anqalibu `ankuma
I will now leave you both,

مُنْتَظِراً لِتَنَجُّزِ ٱلْحَاجَةِ
muntaziran litanajjuzi alhajati
expecting my request to be granted,

وَقَضَائِهَا وَنَجَاحِهَا مِنَ ٱللَّهِ
wa qada'iha wa najahiha min allahi
settled, and made successful by Allah

بِشَفَاعَتِكُمَا لِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ فِي ذٰلِكَ
bishafa`atikuma li ila allahi fi dhalika
on account of your intercession for me with Allah in that;

فَلا أَخِيبُ
fala akhibu
so, do not let me down

وَلاَ يَكونُ مُنْقَلَبِي مُنْقَلَباً خَائِباً خَاسِراً
wa la yakunu munqalabi munqalaban kha'iban khasiran
and do not make me leave with disappointment and loss;

بَلْ يَكُونُ مُنْقَلَبِي مُنْقَلَباً رَاجِحاً
bal yakunu munqalabi munqalaban rajihan
rather, make me leave with achievement,

مُفْلِحاً مُنْجِحاً مُسْتَجَاباً
muflihan munjihan mustajaban
prosperity, success, and response (of my prayers)

بِقَضَاءِ جَمِيعِ حَوَائِجِي
biqada'i jami`i hawa'iji
by having all my requests granted.

وَتَشَفَّعَا لِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
wa tashaffa`a li ila allahi
And (please) intercede for me with Allah recurrently.

إِنْقَلَبْتُ عَلَىٰ مَا شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ
inqalabtu `ala ma sha'a allahu
I now leave on ‘whatever is willed by Allah shall come to pass’

وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ
wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi
and ‘there is neither might nor power except with Allah’,

مُفَوِّضاً أَمْرِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
mufawwidan amri ila allahi
relegating all my affairs to Allah,

مُلْجِئاً ظَهْرِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
mulji'an zahri ila allahi
referring all my power to Allah,

مُتَوَكِّلاً عَلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
mutawakklan `ala allahi
depending upon Allah,

وَأَقُولُ حَسْبِيَ ٱللَّهُ وَكَفَىٰ
wa aqulu hasbiya allahu wa kafa
and repeating, ‘Allah is only sufficient to me,’

سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَنْ دَعَا
sami`a allahu liman da`a
and ‘May Allah respond to him who prays Him.’

لَيْسَ لِي وَرَاءَ ٱللَّهِ
laysa li wara'a allahi
Other than Allah

وَوَرَاءَكُمْ يَا سَادَتِي مُنْتَهَىٰ
wa wara'akum ya sadati muntaha
and other than you all, O my masters, I have nothing to put my hope in.

مَا شَاءَ رَبِّي كَانَ
ma sha'a rabbi kana
Only that which my Lord wills shall come to pass,

وَمَا لَمْ يَشَأْ لَمْ يَكُنْ
wa ma lam yasha' lam yakun
and whatever He does not will shall never be.

وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ
wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi
There is neither might nor power except with Allah.

أَسْتَوْدِعُكُمَا ٱللَّهَ
astawdi`ukuma allaha
I entrust you both with Allah.

وَلا جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ آخِرَ ٱلْعَهْدِ مِنِّي إِلَيْكُمَا
wa la ja`alahu allahu akhira al`ahdi minni ilaykuma
May Allah never decide this time of my visit to you both to be the last.

إِنْصَرَفْتُ يَا سَيِّدِي يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَمَوْلاَي
insaraftu ya sayyidi ya amira almu'minina wa mawlaya
May I now leave, O my master, O Commander of the faithful

وَأَنْتَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ يَا سَيِّدِي
wa anta ya aba `abdillahi ya sayyidi
and you O Abu-`Abdullah, O my master.

وَسَلاَمِي عَلَيْكُمَا مُتَّصِلٌ
wa salami `alaykuma muttasilun
My greetings to you both are as continuous

مَا ٱتَّصَلَ ٱللَّيْلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ
ma ittasala allaylu walnnaharu
as night and day.

وَاصِلٌ ذٰلِكَ إِلَيْكُمَا
wasilun dhalika ilaykuma
May my greetings reach you both (all the time)

غَيْرُ مَحْجُوبٍ عَنْكُمَا سَلاَمِي
ghayru mahjubin `ankuma salami
and my salutation never be screened from reaching you both,

إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ
in sha'a allahu
Allah willing.

وَأَسْأَلُهُ بِحَقِّكُمَا أَنْ يَشَاءَ ذٰلِكَ وَيَفْعَلَ
wa as'aluhu bihaqqikuma an yasha'a dhalika wa yaf`ala
I also beseech Him in your names to determine and do that,

فَإِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
fa'innahu hamidun majidun
for He is verily the owner of praise and the owner of glory.

إِنْقَلَبْتُ يَا سَيِّدَيَّ عَنْكُمَا
inqalabtu ya sayyidayya `ankuma
I am now leaving you both, O my masters,

تَائِباً حَامِداً لِلَّهِ
ta'iban hamidan lillahi
repenting to and praising Allah,

شَاكِراً رَاجِياً لِلإِْجَابَةِ
shakiran rajiyan lil-ijabati
and thanking Him and hoping Him to respond to me;

غَيْرَ آيِسٍ وَلاَ قَانِطٍ
ghayra ayisin wa la qanitin
I neither despair nor lose hope,

آئِباً عَائِداً رَاجِعاً إِلَىٰ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
a'iban `a'idan raji`an ila ziyaratikuma
and I intend to come back, return, revisit you both,

غَيْرَ رَاغِبٍ عَنْكُمَا وَلاَ عَنْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
ghayra raghibin `ankuma wa la `an ziyaratikuma
while I have never desired to leave you or to abandon visiting you;

بَلْ رَاجِعٌ عَائِدٌ إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ
bal raji`un `a'idun in sha'a allahu
rather, I shall return and come back, if Allah wills.

وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ
wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi
There is neither might nor power except with Allah.

يَا سَادَتِي رَغِبْتُ إِلَيْكُمَا وَإِلَىٰ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
ya sadati raghibtu ilaykuma wa ila ziyaratikuma
O my masters, I do desire for both of you and for visiting you

بَعْدَ أَنْ زَهِدَ فِيكُمَا وَفِي زِيَارَتِكُمَا أَهْلُ ٱلدُّنْيَا
ba`da an zahida fikuma wa fi ziyaratikuma ahlu alddunya
although the people of this world (may) abandon you both or abandon visiting you.

فَلاَ خَيَّبَنِيَ ٱللَّهُ مِمَّا رَجَوْتُ وَمَا أَمَّلْتُ فِي زِيَارَتِكُمَا
fala khayyabaniya allahu mimma rajawtu wa ma ammaltu fi ziyaratikuma
May Allah never make me fail to attain what I have hoped and desired in visiting you both.

إِنَّهُ قَرِيبٌ مُجِيبٌ
innahu qaribun mujibun
Verily, He is All-nigh, All-responding.
